This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Anantibody specific for human CRP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standardsand samples are pipetted into the wells and any CRP present is bound by theimmobilized antibody. After washing away any unbound substances, a biotinylateddetection antibody specific for human CRP is pipetted into the wells. After washingaway any unbound substances, Streptavidin-HRP is pipetted into the wells. Followinga wash to remove any unbound reagent, TMB substrate solution (Chromogenic agent) is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CRPboundinthe initial step. The color development is stopped, and the intensity of the color ismeasured.
